Perforated Door Lockers

September 22nd, 2009

Perforated Door Lockers are derived from the compartment locker range. The compartment locker doors during manufacture are punched to provide a pattern of (usually) elliptical holes which provide for increased ventilation throughout each locker compartment. Perforated lockers tend to be used in leisure changing areas. The perforations are generally centred on the door but each locker style has a different perforation. It’s always wise to check the exact pattern of perforations. Perforated Door Lockers are normally available as two, three, four or five compartment alternatives although single, six and eight perforated compartment lockers are also available.

Perforated door lockers can normally be fitted with either key operated or hasp and staple locking mechanisms. Coin Operated locking mechanisms may be used, again it is best to check before buying. All perforated door lockers are available in standard colours. To increase the effectiveness of a perforated door locker, consider asking the manufacturer to provide a punched base and punched shelves for the interior of each locker. This method is especially effective when a heating pipe is present underneath the lockers as the hot air from the heating pipe increases the ventilation. To further the effect of forced ventilation providing an increase in air changes, a forced ventilation system can be installed. This forced ventilation system increases drying time of wet garments by upto three times.

Clear Door / Vision Panel Lockers

September 21st, 2009

Clear Door lockers otherwise known as vision panel lockers or insight lockers are designed primarily to allow each locker compartment to be checked without opening the locker door. These lockers are particularly useful in areas of high security such as electrical retail where pilfering may occur. The clear door locker variety has the door of the locker completely replaced with a clear polycarbonate door. Vision Panel lockers and Insight lockers have a section of the steel door removed and replaced with a polycarbonate section to allow sight access. The clear door lockers are basically a standard compartment locker with a replacement door. Locking mechanisms available for the clear door lockers are limited to key operated and hasp and staple locking mechanisms. Coin operated locking mechanisms are not available due to their size and weight and the loads that these type of locks place on the door itself. Standard colour options for the locker frame still apply. For the similar vision panel or insight lockers, a coin operated or combination lock may be fitted. The standard colour range for frame and doors will still apply.

Clear Door Lockers are available with compartment numbers from one to six inclusive. Vison Panel lockers are available with two, four, six or eight compartments and insight lockers are available with two, three, four, six or eight compartments.

Golf Lockers

September 18th, 2009

Golf lockers in the main are designed as individual lockers each approximately 1300mm high. Golf lockers are available as a top locker or a bottom locker. The top locker has a shelf near the bottom of the locker into which personal items of golf shoes can be placed. The main compartment is for the storage of a regular sized golf bag with clubs stored inside. The bottom golf locker has a shelf at the top of the locker which allows for the storage of personal items and / or golf shoes. The remainder of the locker is as per the top locker. The top golf locker has a full length lockable door which can be fitted with any of the standard locking mechanisms. The bottom golf locker has a shortened door to allow for the addition of bench seating in front of the lockers to provide useful seating. Golf Lockers are available with a steel frame and steel doors; with a steel frame and wooden or laminate doors; or as a full wooden locker. Golf Lockers are a derivative of the compartment lockers but have been modified to be useful for golf locker rooms. Also available is a locker which allows for the storage of asset of clubs in a regualar size golf bag mounted on a trolley. Also featured is a recharging option for the trolley after a round. For further information, see our future blog post about planning a golfclub locker room.

Utility Lockers

September 16th, 2009

Utility Lockers are based loosely around the single compartment locker but have modified to suit more exact requirements. The range of utility lockers generally includes Clean and Dirty lockers, Two Person lockers, Twin Lockers and Uniforms Lockers (also known as Nurses Lockers). These four lockers can provide additional storage requirements than standard compartment lockers.

For example, the Clean and Dirty locker has a standard width of 450mm and has a single door for access. Behind the door, a full width top compartment is useful for the storage of personal items, whilst the remainder of the locker is split into two providing ample space for both clean (non workwear) and dirty (workwear) clothing with the full height divider providing separation to each set of clothes. Generally, each clothing compartment would have at least one coat hook.

The Twin locker takes the layout of a standard single compartment locker except the twin locker is a combination of two 225mm wide single compartment lockers joined together. Each compartment has its own lockable door and behind the door, there is a tp compartment for the storage of personal items and a full length hanging compartment which is generally fitted with a coat hook or two.

The Two Person is a further variant on the twin locker with the locker front frame having four doors. Two doors are small in height but offering full width storage for personal items and two doors offer three quarter length hanging storage. The Two Person locker offers storage for two persons with each person  having two doors each accessed by one key.

The Uniforms / Nurses locker is a variant of the clean and dirty locker. Each locker has a full width personal items compartment at the top of the locker with the remainder of the locker being split vertically to provide a full length hanging compartment to the left of the full height divider. To the right of the divider, three equally spaced shelves provide four compartments for the storage of associated equipment and other items.

Clean and Dirty lockers are useful for factories, warehouses and other industrial environments where the need to keep two sets of clothes separate from each other. Twin and Two Person lockers are particularly useful when users require full length hanging but the space available will not allow standard single compartment lockers to be utilised fully. Uniforms lockers are particularly useful for hospitals for nurses and doctors, for janitors and cleaners.

Laptop Lockers

September 15th, 2009

Laptop lockers provide a useful method of storing and/or charging laptop lockers that are required in quantity. In particular, the laptop locker range allow schools to secure quantities of laptops safely. The basic range of laptop lockers provides for a secure location with the extended range providing for the charging of laptops whilst being stored securely. Laptop lockers can accommodate up to fifteen laptops each stored in their own individual compartment which is locked with either a key lock or a padlock fitment lock. Colour options tend to be from the standard range. Laptop lockers can accommodate laptops up to 19” in screen size.

Postbox Lockers

September 14th, 2009

The range of postbox lockers is designed to satisfy certain criteria. For example, postbox lockers are normally based on either the six or eight compartment lockers. Why?, because these lockers have compartment sizes which lend themselves more towards the size of pigeon holes required for general post. For example, lockers which measure approx 300mm wide x 300mm deep will accommodate A4 post whereas larger sized documents will require a locker measuring 300mm wide approx x 450mm deep approx. Each door within a postbox locker is reduced in height to provide the ‘postal’ slot. Doors can be fitted with a range of locking mechanisms including key locks and padlock fitment locks. Each postbox locker is designed to accommodate letters and small packages up to 25mm (1”) thick. Postbox lockers are suitable for post rooms and office environments where staff collect their incoming post from a central point.

Low Lockers

September 11th, 2009

Low Lockers are designed to provide similar attributes as the standard compartment lockers, except the overall size. This height difference allows the low lockers to be used in situations where the standard compartment lockers are not. For example, primary and junior school children are smaller in height and therefore could not reach the top of a standard locker. At 1220mm high, the low lockers lend themselves to individual applications. Another application may be that the proposed locker room in question is using a combination of two and/or four compartment lockers. The low lockers are available with either one or two compartments and would compliment the two and four compartment standard size lockers. The low lockers may also be utilise beneath a window or as a counter. In this case, a laminate or vinyl worktop can be affixed to the top of the lockers to protect users against the metal surface top of the lockers.

Single compartment low lockers are fitted with a double coat hook at the top of the locker for the storage of hanging garments. Two compartment low lockers are not supplied with any internal fittings. Low lockers are available in a restricted range of sizes, are available with a range of locking mechanisms and can be supplied finished from the standard colour range.

Small Lockers

September 9th, 2009

Small lockers are generally used in place of larger more standard lockers due to anomalies in the locker room. These anomalies can often take the form of windows, low walls are wall mounted furniture ie light switches, alarms etc. Small Lockers allow the planning of a locker room to maintain an image whilst overcoming the obstacles. Small lockers are generally reproductions of individually sized compartments normally found within the range of compartment lockers. For example, the basic small lockers are cube lockers. Cube Lockers are available in three standard sizes although other sizes are available. Cube Lockers are available in 305mm, 380mm or 450mm. The 305mm Cube Locker is a reproduction of a compartment from a six compartment locker. The 380mm from a five compartment locker and the 450mm from a four compartment locker. Each cube locker has exactly the same height width and depth. They are each available with a range of locking mechanisms as the standard compartment lockers, and are all available with exactly the same colour options.
The Quarto lockers are also standard across the locker industry. A Quarto locker represents a quarter of the height and as such mimics the size of a compartment in a four compartment locker. The only difference is that with a quarto locker, the height, width and depth are not equal, usually the height stays the same as the height of a four compartment locker compartment. The width and depth are usually standards that relate to the four compartment lockers with widths normally around 305mm and depths normally of 305mm and 450mm.
Both the Cube and Quarto lockers can be stacked in any configuration depending on the needs of each individual client.

Garment Lockers

September 8th, 2009

Garment Lockers are available in two distinct types. Garment Dispenser lockers are designed for the storage of clean folded garments prior to use. Garment Collectors are designed for dirty or soiled garments to be stored ready for collection. The two lockers provide a valuable service where third party garment providers are used. The Garment Dispenser allows for the third party to have access to each garment dispenser by means of a master door which opens up every compartment in the locker at the same time. The third party then replenishes the garment dispenser with clean folded garments, shuts the door and then collects the dirty or soiled garments from the garment collector before leaving the premises. The following day or shift, the whole process repeats itself, and so on. The master door on the garment dispenser is normally a key lock, whilst the individual compartment doors can be fitted with either key locks or hasp and staple locks allowing for the use of a padlock. Garment Lockers are normally used alongside combinations of compartment lockers to achieve the best possible use of space within a locker room. Garment lockers tend to be utilised where the are large quantites of staff who require clean garments for each shift pattern.

Personal Effects Lockers

September 7th, 2009

The Personal Effects Locker combines the requirements of the smaller compartment lockers to provide a maximum number of compartments in one locker. The result is a very small compartment which is only suitable for the storage of a bunch of keys or a mobile phone. The personal effects lockers are available in a small range of alternative sizes with compartment quantities ranging from 20 to 40. Each compartment is individually accessible and lockable. The standard locking mechanism is a key lock although a padlock fitting is also possible. In some cases, coin operated mechanisms are used, although this can vary from each design. The personal effects lockers are particularly useful when large quantities of similarly shaped items are required to be stored. Popular uses include restricted access environments where mobile phones for example are not allowed, and events such as music gigs or conferences. Some personal effects lockers have been modified to allow mobile phones to be charged. These are very popular at music festivals.
